Useful tips for your stay at Cayman Lodge Amazonia

Luggage

We recommend bringing a small backpack to carry everything you need for your stay in the lodges. Your bigger suitcases can be stored in Puerto Maldonado office.

Clothes

You will need some light cotton clothes, long pants, long-sleeved shirts, a hat or baseball cap, regular or hiking boots. Short-sleeved shirts in light colors, shorts and sandals with thin socks are recommended for walking around the lodges. You should bring a windbreaker for the boat rides on the river as well as a raincoat, rain pants or a poncho and a bathing suit.

Climate

We have a very unpredictable climate. We never know when it is going to rain but the rain forest becomes very animated after a shower. The driest season is from June to November and the wettest season is from December to May. You may observe the animals all year long. They come to eat and drink regularly on the banks of the Tambopata river.

Toiletries

Sun cream, torch with spare batteries and light bulbs, a flask, a bottle of water, medication, sunglasses, binoculars, passport and mosquito repellent. Those who plan on visiting the Colorado and Chuncho Plan to bring some additional clothing: towel and bathing suit, as well as a plastic bag to protect your clothes and video camera from getting wet.

Tips

Tipping is up to you. If you want to tip the staff and guides there is a tip container in the dining room.

Insurance

You must absolutely have insurance covering accidents, repatriation, for your flights and lost luggage. We recommend that you give us a copy of your insurance policy upon arrival, your policy number and insurance company telephone numbers. If you have an accident or catch a disease that is not covered by your insurance the expenses generated by it will be your responsibility.
